571d ago I'll be honest, I was a major Digimon guy growing up. I just was really fascinated with everything being digital and all. The games are all really awesome too!
My favorite being Digimon World 3 on the ps one. Now I'm seeing Pokemon games literally imitate everything Digimon was (mega evolution, device for mega evolution, Digimon world 3 battle style, taking on features of the trainer happens in the next Pokemon movie, Pokemon based on real world things,etc.).
It's not bad at all. I just think that people never realized how cool Digimon. In reality though, I'm a sucker for Pokemon anything. Pokemon Crystal and Sapphire being my all time favorites. 569d ago That depends on the Digimon game. I think some digimon games have been better than pokemon games.
Digimon World 1, 3 and CyberSleuth are incredible. 2 and 4 were horrible.
Not sure about Dawn or Dusk. Digimon Adventure on the PSP actually followed the story of the first season ore longer. I wish I could get my hands on that game. The thing is the games have always played with different formulas back and forth.
Honestly, pokemon has been the same for the past 20 years (including the minimal, and I mean absolutely minimal graphical upgrades). Heck Digimon world 1 from back in 2000 looked better than a pokemon game in the 2016.
570d ago Digimon all the way! Types of marlboro cigarettes in singapore. Recently I skimmed through the first two seasons on netflix to refresh on the story. I forgot how good it was. Zbrush download. The story was overarching and pretty deep. Each episode and the entire story had meaning. It was also much more mature.
It focused on the relationships among the human characters, the relationship of the humans with the digimon, relationships of humans and digimon with other digimon in the digital world, dealt with grief, death, fear, loneliness, pride, insecurities, trust, friendship, death of parents, divorced parents, etc. And in some of the episodes I even heard good advice with dealing with life's problems. I also liked/disliked them changing up seasons of the show, as if the others never existed, or where digimon was just a card game, or spirit evolutions. But my favorite are seasons 1 and 2. I also preferred the designs of Digimon better.

They were less cutesy and less round. Digivolutions were a lot cooler too. The characters practically completely changed appearance and form while still retaining recognizable features. I also liked that they could revert back to their rookie forms.
I also liked the armor digivolutions and DNA digivolutions. As for the games.Digimon World 1 will always be my favorite. Heck, that game even though it came out in 2000 still looked better than the majority of the pokemon games leading up to 2016. Their other games were as people say hit or miss. In Digimon World 2 I liked the 3 on 3 rpg like battles, but I hated the dungeon crawling in a vehicle, although it was creative and challenging.
I would have preferred to have an actual world in that game. In Digimon 3 I loved the world and the deep story, but the rpg battles were a bit boring. I do really want to get Cyber Sleuth pretty soon. The thing that I like is that they are not scared to experiment with formulas, even when they have one that works. My first Pokemon game was Pokemon Black, but man was the dialogue/story in a Pokemon game so dumbed down and repetitive, even for a child.
Gogenogo said:Well I personally think that Dawn and Dusk are better then DS. The reason being that in Dawn and Dusk you can get the final evolved forms of Agumon and Gaomon. Finally between the two games it just depends on what starter you like cause there are different starters in both games. Not to mini Mod. But I'm going to. Gogenogo Try not to bring a topic that hasn't been touched for over a month back to life. And in this case its been over 3 years.
And on a side note Dawn and Dusk are the options for the DS. DS is not a game but a platform. He wanted to know what game to get. Dawn or Dusk.
QUOTE='JML897'QUOTE='Jakandsigz'Remember when Digimon was actually just as much if not more popular than Pokemon? Tv show cards toys, games? Jakandsigz There was never a time when Digimon was even half as popular as Pokemon Yep all those figures showing Digimon has better ratings on TV and had more profitable movies are all lies.and how about video games? A lot of pokemon fans don't give a shit about the anime. I played the games but never cared for the show. Pokemon's game sales slaughter Digimon's. I'm having trouble finding the total revenue figures for each franchise but I would be really really surprised if Digimon has made half of what Pokemon has made.

I'm having trouble finding the total revenue figures for each franchise but I would be really really surprised if Digimon has made half of what Pokemon has made The games were not far apart in sales for a bit but then PKMn for a huge boost(although profit wise PKMN made more since that series takes less money to make then the Digimon games at the time.) Carts and shows though, Digimon, in fact, even with the boost, Digimon was still doing toys quite well along with PKMN. Digimon at some point, drive off a cliff, and that cliff was a 90 degree angle because Digimon almost vanished when it stopped doing well.
Obviously Pokemon is way better in games. Digimon however i think has a deeper story with more characters that the viewer actually learns and cares about. I also like how in Digimon they are friends with thier chosen digi and each has a very different personality and is intelligent.
I think one of the problems with Pokemon now is that they have added hundreds of new pokemon that are pretty much the same as many that have come before. The legendary are pretty cool, but i really only like the original 151 for the most part.
Dawn and Dusk are the Pokemon types of games. They are opposites in the types of Digimon you will start with, with a Shin Megami Tensei style of fighting. Digimon World DS is the first of those three, and sort of like the Pokemon Yellow/Emerald/Platinum of the three games.
Championship is more like a tomogachi except with multiple digimon that are specifically bred and trained to fight in matches, you do not control them. Overall, Digimon World DS is a solid game with a pretty good story, but Dawn and Dusk have more variety of digimon. World Championship is a game of it's own and a lot of people really did not enjoy it, though I personally did. I haven't played these games in a few years, so I apologize for my bad review of them, but I would get Dawn or Dusk if you're looking for an RPG style game.
Only get World Championship if you liked raising tomogachis and competing in RNG matches that you won't know if you'll win or not:p. I didn't get much out of Digimon World for DS, but I REALLY enjoyed Dusk. I loved the leveling system actually and how you had to met certain criteria to digivolve; like defeating Holy digimon to gain Holy exp (like to to help Angemon to digivolve) and needing specific digimon to help create new/different digimon.
It was fun getting little missions and seeing and being able to train your favorite digimon. The worst part thou was getting to a point were you were so over-powered and grinding for the specific types of EXP got frustrating and tedious. Digimon world championship is a game I spent a lot of time with. There were some problems I had with the game, however the novelty of it was really great.
If you enjoy digimon and had a tamigotchi as a child, then you may enjoy this game. Digimon of course is based on tamigotchi, however this is really what the game is. You hunt digimon, feed, train, battle, clean up poop, digivolve, get new things, wash, rinse, and repeat. There are many different biomes to hunt in, and they all change what digimon are there based on time of day and year. Training requires you to pick up a digimon, place it in the gym, and wait a few seconds for it to get a stat up. There is 6 main battle stats (atk, def, spd, wis,HP, MP), but there's also stats that affect resistances to dark, light, dragon, etc.
New Pokemon Ds Games
The different ways you train affect the outcome of digivolutions. Digimon do revert to egg after a certain amount of time spent in an evolution. This can be considered good or bad depending how you like it. Reverting does have advantages.
There are some evolutions that cannot be attained without reversions and if your egg is more likely to digivolve along the same route as they did before. Battling is pretty lame. You have almost no control over the battle besides giving your digimon a game plan. I heard you can gain control over them, only after you complete the digidex. Ping eye 2 no serial numbers. Most of the game is spent trying to battle your way to get enough medals to enter the world championship.
This comes once every 4 years but can be very difficult to beat as you need 3 mega digimon that are fully trained and healthy on that one day. With reversions happening, you may not be able to that year. Overall i'd give it a 6/10 but if you have the nostalgia for digimon, it could easily be a 7.5/10.
Not a great game, but almost exactely what I want from a digimon game. Gonna be honest. All of these games are terrible. Digimon World DS was released just before Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, and was designed with the intent to market off of that hype, it's a complete rip off when it comes to game mechanics. Dawn and Dusk are technically sequels to DWDS and they fix SOME things, but it's still really bland as a whole.
None of the Digimon stand out, every single attack is extremely generic, save for a few iconic attacks on the mega level Digimon. What really bothers me is the Degenerate system. Every digimon has a level cap, and very often this cap is lower than the level of your next evolution, so what the game wants you to do is Degenerate back to your previous form, then level up all over again back to your initial form, and then your max level cap will be raised. It's ridiculously stupid because even if you digivolve, your level goes back down to 1.
I have a Agumon level 24. It's maxed out but to evolve to Greymon, I need to be level 25. So I degenerate back down to Koromon, raise it to like level 9 so it can be Agumon again, and then raise it another 25 levels so it can finally be greymon, where it is promptly reverted back to level 1, and I have to gain another 30 to 40 levels to reach the next stage, assuming my new level cap even lets me reach it. It's mindless padding to make the game longer and more difficult, it's not a good system.
You might enjoy the DW DS games some your first time through, but there is no replayability to them.
